The last 10 days or so have been dreary, yucky, and full of not-great news…which is why I haven’t been posting, as I’m sure you’re not fond of adding more of any of those things to your life! Yesterday I read someone’s observation that last week seemed like one of those weeks where everyone they knew was in a bad mood, and that’s exactly what my week was. Throw in three ice/snow storms (with another on its way tonight!), and it certainly seemed like a week to stay in bed with a good book and several bottles of wine.
The big news in these parts is that I found out that my job will be no longer by the end of my organization’s fiscal year on June 30 of next year. The good thing is that I know about it now and have several months to look for a new job; the bad thing is, well, that my current job won’t exist in six months. It’s a very weird thing, and especially strange for me as I don’t work well with times of transition, and although I’m staying in my job for now, this announcement virtually guarantees me several months of transition ahead. Oy.
At least we’re in one of my favorite times of year right now. I love, love, love Advent and preparation for Christmas! The silver aluminum Christmas tree has been up since the weekend after Thanksgiving (complete with singing along with John Denver and the Muppets), and we’ve been waging a battle to keep Harper (one of our cats) from eating the tree ever since. I think I’m doing pretty well on keeping up with knitting/crafty projects/presents (knock on wood), although I’m not entirely sure Christmas cards are going to make it out before Christmas Day. Which is why I love that the twelve days of Christmas are AFTER Christmas. My family even has plans for our Christmas gathering, and if you know my family you know that kind of planning is VERY unusual…
So, as we speed toward the holidays and I start on a massive job hunt, I’d like to ask for prayers/good thoughts/heads up on cool jobs from y’all…appreciation and gratitude in advance!
Oh no! That’s very stressful news. I don’t know that my line of work is of any interest to you, but I’ll pass along anything that hits my email box.
